Prime Time - Top 5 Makeup Primers ♡

Primers are an everyday essential in our makeup routines, but whether you use a long-lasting one could make or break your look.

The purpose of a primer is to keep your makeup lasting as long as it's full potential and to improve coverage. Finding your perfect primer can be a challenge, so we've compiled a list of our 5 top primers.

5. Benefit Stay Flawless 15-Hour Primer (£24.50)
Benefit would usually be top of the list but in this case of primers, they're not. (Soph is the only one who has used this.) I received a mini sample of this primer from Sephora when I was in Canada and loved it, so I bought the full size. After using other primers I found out that it wasn't as good as I originally thought, but still holds makeup for a long time. I wouldn't say 15 hours as advertised, but it does have a good consistency and easy application as a stick. For me, it worked better with BB cream as when used with foundation it appeared patchy. Overall, a good primer but maybe not worth the price.

4. Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer (£6.99)
We both bought this primer at Clothes Show Live 2014 in a Rimmel goody bag, and after reading a lot of positive reviews about it we were both looking forward to trying it out. This primer is perfect for a quick fix; we use it for school as it does exactly what it says. It is said to smooth, resurface, brighten, mattify & protect as a 5 in 1 primer. The packaging doesn't stand out nor does the product, but is simple and practical for if you're in a rush or using primer for the first time and works well on all skin types.

3. Technic 'Smooth It' Primer (£3.99)
For our skin tones, we both prefer a silicone-based primer and that's exactly what Smooth It is. We both love the packaging, simple but the shape is effective. Since its a circular pot, the only negative about this is that you have to put your hand in the pot, sometimes leaving excess product in your nails. This might just be a personal thing but in terms of product quality, this primer applies so well to your face but has a quite a thick consistency. For its price, it is definitely worth the money.

2. Benefit The POREfessional Primer (£24.50)
We have both used this countless times, whether its been full size or sample, the POREfessional is a staple in any modern makeup lover's bag. It does cover up pores, even if its not instantly and gives a matte almost flawless base before applying makeup. The tube isn't completely full and it is quite a big tube, but the packaging is beautiful and overall worth the price.

1. Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser (£7.99)
Here we are..number one! Maybelline has always been a favourite, both on our Instagrams and in our makeup bags. As we've previously said, silicone based primers work better on our skin. Even though this is now available in Rose & Apricot, the original has a better texture and helps foundation last longer. The primer is really smooth and works well on most skin combinations and in terms of drugstore primers, this is definitely the best you can get.
